Abstract: Founded in 1901 as an Orthodox Jewish congregation in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Congregation Poile Zedek became a Conservative congregation for a short period, beginning in 1968, before reverting to Orthodox Judaism. Its Ladies Auxiliary (later Sisterhood) began in 1920, and its large synagogue building on Neilson Street was completed in 1924. Abstract: Harrison A. Williams, Jr. (1919 - 2001) represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate from 1959 until 1982. He also served in the House of Representatives from 1953 through 1956. A member of the Democratic Party, Williams held leadership positions on the Committee on Labor and Human Resources, the Special Committee on Aging, the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and the Select Committee on Small Business, among others. Abstract:

These records chronicle the administrative career of Irving S. Upson, who from 1890-1915 took on various roles within Rutgers College. These roles include that of the first university registrar, secretary, and treasurer, as well as college librarian. These roles saw the development of various other offices present in the university today, including alumni relations and the financial office of the Athletic Association.
